FOOD | *Bella Italia, Loughborough.

I wrote a post recently about the opening of Cineworld Loughborough and tell you how exciting it was to have a brand new complex with a new cinema and a few exciting restaurants too. Having Baxter Gate available in Loughborough is really exciting and I'm keen to give my approval of all the new exciting restaurants Loughborough now has to offer. Last week I made a visit to Bella Italia, as a big lover of Italian food and excited by the prospect of a Bella Italia being so close to home I couldn't wait to see what they had to offer.

It's important to add their staff are next to none, friendly, focused and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we were seated. I was told that they had tried each of the dishes available on the menu before opening their doors so you knew that their recommendations would be honest and true to suit your fancy.

The decor was very Italian inspired at every corner, with a scooter and gelato ice cream cart added in for good measure. The variety of colours complimented each other and really worked together in making a comfortable and exciting venue for Bella Italia. It's still hard to believe that this was built on the site of an old hospital. It's so spacious and with quite high ceilings too.

We decided to ask out waiter for his recommendations to decide on what we was going to eat for this evening, there was so much choice we just couldn't make the decision all on our own. It wasn't long until we was tucking into some cocktails and looking out towards the new space in Baxter Gate in Loughborough. It was such a comfortable dining experience.

The food was absolutely delicious, presented in great portion sizes to fill our bellies and the smell was insane. Our starters of Gamberi, a dish consisting of king prawns baked in garlic and chilli butter, and served with cibatta bread and Polpette, a pork and beef meatball dish in a rich tomato sauce, topped with mozzarella and served with ciabatta bread. Having not chose the Gamberi, our waiter decided that this was one of his favourite starters and we should definitely give it a go! He wasn't wrong the prawns were delicious, with a nice little kick in there to give a real Italian flavour!

For our main dishes I decided to opt for my favourite dish on their menu, my absolute go to in Bella Italia and that is the Pollo e Spinaci Calzone. A folded pizza stuffed to the brim with chicken, spinach and cheese! I didn't manage to eat it all but I did enjoy it as lunch the next day, an opportunity to relive it's yummyness all over again. Jordan kept with my pizza feel and opted for the BBQ Chicken pizza which looked amazing! We completed our main meal with a fresh side salad and chips to go with them.

The mains completely filled us up so you can imagine our replies when the waiter asked if we'd like a dessert. Of course we couldn't leave the restaurant without trying something from their dessert menu! I had to give their Gelato ice cream a try, opting for some of the Vanilla and Honeycomb ice cream I wasn't disappointed, it was so creamy and full of flavour. Jordan opted for a trio of puddings, not leaving me any to have a try of. They must have been delicious because before I knew it they were gone!!

Overall a delicious evening of good food, great atmosphere and welcoming staff at Bella Italia! I would definitely go and give them a visit next time your in the area, you won't be disappointed!

thanks for reading,
Disclaimer: I was invited to try out the menu with a guest in return for this post to be published. The photos are credited to the photographer but all views are mine. Thanks to the Bella Italia team in Loughborough for a fantastic experience.

  1. This looks amazing! I've only ever been to the ones in Southampton but they looked no where near as cool as this one. Awesome food though! Gorgeous photos - definitely not a good idea to read this early before lunch haha xx
