My 10 Favourite Films of All Time.

I am a massive fan of watching films, I can justify this alone with the amount of DVD's I have stored into a cupboard 5 shelves full. Me and Jordan spend a lot of our winter evenings now watching a lot of films and even after 2 years of being together, of which over a year of that time living together I don't feel we've fully experienced one another's favourite films. So it's kind of my mission before 2016 is over that he experiences every film that I absolute love.

I'm not into any specific genre of movies, I just enjoy everything. Given I probably need to watch a film twice before deciding how I feel about it because I have a habit of falling asleep through films, oops! I'm sure like you this post will make you want to curl up in bed and stick one of them one, perfect for a Sunday if you ask me.

01. The Breakfast Club (1985)
The Breakfast Club is a film that I only started loving over the past couple of years and it is my go to on a rainy day! It follows five high school students, of all different stereotyped, meet in detention, where they pour out their hearts to one another and discover how they have a lot more in common than they initially thought.

If you love the 80's then the soundtrack and fashion style in this film is enough to love. The final song is also one of my absolute favourites and is instructed to play at my funeral.. (morbid thought sorry!)

02. 500 Days of Summer (2009)
I love how aesthetically beautiful this film is, most of the time I watch it for it's beauty. It's an offbeat romantic comedy about a woman who doesn't believe that true love exists, and the young man who falls for her. The film also has a pretty epic soundtrack to go along with it, I tend to listen to a lot of it's music during the summer and it's the soundtrack that helped me discover The Smiths who are now one of my favourite bands to listen to.

03. Moulin Rouge (2001)
I have a huge love for this film! I can't believe it was released back in 2001 it feels so brand new to me! I have danced to a few of the songs in the soundtrack in my time and love reenacting these in my office to lift up my mood on a shit day. I'm also over the moon that there will FINALLY be a stage production of this film, it's been a long time coming! I hope they manage to do it's energy justice though. The film follows a poet who falls for a beautiful courtesan whom a jealous duke covets.

If you love any other of Baz Luhrmann's films like The Great Gatsby then you'll love this!

04. Hook (1991)
If you love me then you'll know that Peter Pan is one of my absolute favourite stories ever! So it comes as no surprise that it would have an influence to my movie taste too. I absolutely love this adaption of a much loved tale and it stars the late Robin Williams who is without a doubt one of the best actors of all time.

05. Dirty Dancing (1987)
Dirty Dancing is a film which I love watching this time of year, with it's iconic 'I carried a watermelon' quote and a very attractive Patrick Swayze to look at during the film, it's just such a classic! I love it's soundtrack too, it has some great 80s music in there. You will watch this and instantly fall for Patrick's dancing hips and wish you were Baby, lucky girl she was!

06. Matilda  (1996)
Roald Dahl is one of the best childhood book authors and the film adaption of Matilda was one of my favourites. I think the magic that was created in that story has been captured so well and beautifully in the film. It's one of those films that instantly makes you wish you had Matilda's magic powers, we can only hope!

07. Little Shop of Horrors (1986)
Whats a list on my blog without a mention of a musical film and my favourite is The Little Shop of Horrors (amongst a lot of others!). I love how crazy this musical is and since watching the touring production I have become more obsessed then ever with this film. The film is about a nerdy florist who finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed. You won't be able to look after a plant in the same way again!

08. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
I am a massive fan of the Marvel films and we have every film adaption of the comics. These are the films that me and Jordan enjoy watching together. Captain America is my favourite for many reasons, including he is a very handsome guy!

09. Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
I couldn't again write a post like this without a mention of some good films, especially Harry Potter. Given, I'm not the biggest fan of the film adaptions as I feel like the films missed so much good stuff the book contained. However, I do love the Prisoner of Azkaban and as it's my favourite book in the series it's probably the film I enjoyed the most.

10. The Notebook (2004)
The Notebook is such a classic romantic film. I remember the first time I watched this back in college and sobbing my heart out by the end of it, I always wanted to find someone who loved me like Noah loved Allie. This film also introduced me to Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams who are my favourite actors!

What are your favourite films?
thanks for reading,
