Cocktails and a festival, to me that sings the perfect combination, especially with Summer just around the corner. Nick Fox the managing director of Loves Cocktails is the mastermind behind bringing together the finest bars and brands from inside and out of Nottingham for people to enjoy from 24th - 30th April. There's loads for you to do over the 7 days, you can come along for a few of your favourite cocktails at £5.00 each or take part in the events, parties, masterclasses and tastings they have going on.

It's the first time something like this is happening in Nottingham, and with a city that has a real buzz in it's night scene I feel like this is the perfect addition to it. Getting involved in the festival is easy peasy, all you need to do is buy a wristband online for £10 (there's trade, student and early bird options available too!) and then collect it from a designated cocktail hub in the city centre. With this wristband on you you'll be able to enjoy unlimited £5 cocktails at participating bars and also gain exclusive access to all of the events running throughout the week!

We headed to Brass Monkey where we got a insight into the cocktails we could be drinking at the event, as well as hearing passionately about the Loves Cocktails brand and what Nick Fox delivers with his festivals. The General Manager of Brass Monkey, Ehren was also on hand to chat about the bar itself and what we can expect from them at this year's festival.

First up on the cocktails was a twist on the classic (and very much loved by me) Tom Collins, featuring one of Nick's favourites, Portobello Road Gin, apple juice and thyme. There was a real herby essence to all of the cocktails we sampled that night, if your a fan of Gin based cocktails then this is the one. It was very refreshing, didn't carry the tangy after taste of a G&T which can often put people off. We also sampled a Magarita, as well as one of the favourites of the evening with many of the bloggers I was in attendance, a cocktail named 'Passionate Afternoon'. It contained passionfruit juices, vodka and prosecco! delicious!

I'm going to be heading to the festival on the Saturday with my friends in toe, where I'll definitely be getting involved with the Snapper Saturday event hosted by Portobello Road Gin as well as the Cocktails, Wings and Caribbean Vibes event that will contain rum, music and fun!

You should definitely pop over to the website and check out what you can get involved with.
