10 Good Things From This Week (#03)

So when you plan to have a weekly post up on a Saturday but then Easter comes along and throws your schedule out of the window. I'm not complaining because a 4 day weekend has been exactly what I needed. I've been spending the last two weeks job hunting my socks off, so I more than deserved some time off. It was super nice not to have my laptop attached to my arms for more than 24 hours.

It's also Bank Holiday Monday, not much on my agenda for today apart from some cheese dip and tortilla chips, a couple of films on the sofa and attempting to finish my latest read before bedtime. The normal work day resumes tomorrow, at least it's only a 4 day week and I have organised a coffee morning for local bloggers on Saturday!

It's also now April, I have so much I want to get sorted this month, most importantly I'd quite like to be in employment by Mid-April. I just hope this can happen. Anyway, let's dig into 10 Good Things From This Week, grab yourself a cuppa and some Easter chocolate!

1. Catching up with Friends.

Earlier this week I managed to catch up with Annie on the phone and then had Kirstie stay over the night. It was nice to catch up with friends, drink some gin and enjoy tucking into a delicious homemade chili. Me and Kirstie also watched Scary Movie 2 which is an absolute classic film if you ask me. I remember watching it at high school when it came out so it was very nostalgic to watch it again.

2. Nottingham

During the Easter weekend, myself and Jordan agreed we'd spend one of those days out somewhere. The weather wasn't on our side (typical for Britain really) and so we canceled our plans to walk around Stratford-Upon-Avon for a trip to Nottingham, around a 30-minute drive away from us.

We headed to Frankie & Benny's for brunch, Cineworld to watch Black Panther and then over to Ludorati Cafe Bar. The cafe bar is a great board game/escape room located in Nottingham's city centre. The walls were filled with loads of games, old and new. It was super affordable too and we loved just chilling with some board games and a hot drink whilst it poured outside. I didn't touch my phone more than 3 times and it was really good for the both of us!

3. Black Panther

I managed to finally see this Marvel release in the cinema (thank god!) and I'm so glad I went to see it. I love Marvel films but I definitely think it's up there as one of my favourites now. Black Panther had a great storyline, incredible cast and kept my attention for the entirety of the film. I LOVED it, now roll on Infinity War which is being released in April. Do you enjoy Marvel films?

4. Flashdance UK Tour

On Monday I began my week with a trip to De Montfort Hall to see Flashdance The Musical UK Tour. It was great fun, perfect 80's vibes and I left the theatre humming the soundtrack to myself! You can read my review of Flashdance over on my blog here

5. Waterloo Road

Whilst I'm at home quite a lot job hunting it's easy to get easily distracted or unmotivated. I've been watching old seasons of the BBC drama, Waterloo Road and it's kept me purely focused on cracking my to-do list. I am always looking for recommendations for more things to watch so if you are loving a series right now that I should be watching, let me know in the comments!

6. Important Meetings

I've managed to go to a meeting this week about potential work in schools. Whilst I do have an interest in creating a career in social media, I think I'd also love to work in a Teaching Assistant job again and use my social media as a side hustle to earn extra ££. I just hope that in the next week or so I can cement where I'll be heading with my career and then can start grafting into the stuff I can do on the side!

7. Spring Cleansing

I'm spending a lot of time at the moment giving our house a serious spring cleanse and it's making me feel good! I love going through clothes, DVD's, the kitchen cupboards and just getting rid of the stuff I don't feel as though I need anymore. Such a good feeling!

8. Library Books

I visited my library earlier in the week, I wasn't feeling inspired by my bookshelf (not sure how my to be read list is mahoosive!). I decided to take a trip to the local library and was so inspired I didn't hesitate to bring an armful of books home with me. I'm already deep into the second book I got and can't wait to return for more in the future. Also, it's a huge money saver when you don't have a lot of money!

9. Aldi's Belgian Chocolate & Salted Caramel Hot Cross Buns

I don't need to say more, these have been the bee's knees for breakfast this Easter! They're delicious!

10. 80's Music

I haven't been able to stop myself listening to my favourite Spotfiy playlist this week. There's nothing like a good list of 80's music to lift your spirits, or help the time pass when you are stuck on a bus in horrific traffic (me on Thursday evening!) I really should share some of my favourite playlists, they're pretty damn good!

What has been one of your good things from the last week?

  2. I'm a big fan of Marvel films and Black Panther ranks high on my list too - I also really love the Guardians of the Galaxy films and it's hard to pick a favourite. I finally saw Thor Ragnarok this week (I hate seeing them out of order!) and that could be my favourite. It was definitely the most fun film I've seen for a long time.

  4. Love the idea of this post Emmie. It's nice to share the positive bits of your week. As for series, have you seen The Good Place? I'm currently obsessed with Marcella - a crime drama on ITV starring Anna Friel - it's ace! I need to take a trip to the library soon xx
