Son of Steak, Nottingham

It's been well over a year since I last visited Nottingham's Son of Steak?! HOW?!

Last April I checked out the restaurant for the first time at a launch event and it seems since it has gone from strength to strength. So of course when I was invited back recently I jumped at the opportunity to see whether their quality in their food had stuck over time and it was still a place in Nottingham well worth visiting.

Son of Steak is located in Nottingham's buzzing Trinity Square, an area full of great restaurants. If you're heading out on the town, to the local Cineworld or the Theatre Royal Nottingham then I'd highly recommend you go to Son of Steak for some grub!

Their venue is incredibly spacious and designed to provide an airy but intimate feel to your dining experience. It has the ability to cater for big parties as well as the smaller ones. The restaurant doesn't feel cramped in the slightest and there's a destinated area for those who are only there to grab a drink or two too! (I would highly recommend their mojitos as they're some of the best I've ever tasted, honest!). The interior is finished off nicely with a combination of contemporary and rustic vibes that tie in their atmosphere and menu well.

The Son of Steak team went to town showcasing us with their exciting food products. We got stuck into their Dirty Fries, a dish of freshly hand-cut chips topped with a chilli non carne and suitable for vegetarians. Their Chicken Wings with the Korean BBQ was to die for too!

The Son of Steak's masterpiece is their Flat Iron Steak. Served at either 8oz or 16oz, this meat is expertly cut from the sweet spot in the chuck, between the shoulder and neck. The steak is hand cut and full of juice, finished off with a pinch of Maldon sea salt. It's the most delicious steak I have ever got my hands on and is packed with flavour to the very last bite. It's really quite nice dipped into their peppercorn sauce or their beef gripping gravy too, especially if you are a person who enjoys steak with some sort of sauce.

After sampling an entire 8oz Flat Iron Steak I was surprised to still have some space left for the main meal. Son of Steak offers a variety of steaks from their Josper Oven as well as some chicken and burger dishes that are just as fantastic in their value and flavour. Jordan opted to sample their 10z New York Strip steak. This steak is cut from the short loin and is an exceptionally tender cut of meat. Jordan had never tried this cut of meat but really enjoyed its flavour and tenderness, he had it cooked medium rare and complimented that it was exactly how he would have wanted it.

It did look mighty good on his plate and I definitely wish I had ordered this for myself!

Having already sampled their steak I decided on having something different from the Son of Steak's menu. Their burgers had been raved about on social media so I decided to get stuck into The Fun Guy burger. The Fun Guy burger is served on prime steak in a toasted brioche bun with lettuce, beef tomato, gherkin, mayo and caramelised onion. The burger is topped with flat mushroom and Emmental cheese.

Son of Steak provided us with a selection of sides to dig into at our leisure too. Some of my highlights from the selection were the Mac 'n' Cheese, Golden Rice and Crushed Sweet Potato. All of which would accompany your main meal to perfection.

I would definitely encourage you to visit Nottingham's Son of Steak for some delicious food and outstanding service. Maybe you can join them for mojitos on tap and a steak after work sometime! Find out more about Son of Steak over on their website here.
